About This Book

Steven, a young Englishman who is heir to a county in Thuringia, is travelling on foot when he meets up with a mysterious itinerant fiddler, Geiger-Hans. He travels in his company for a day, which leads to his meeting with the innocent Sidonia, a young orphan girl reared by the Forest-Mother, a comfortable peasant woman of the Thuringian forests. Steven had little use for the untutored forest maiden, but the course of events will have them meeting again...and Geiger-Hans has some reason for trusting Steven, which will be revealed near the end. Is Steven worthy of the man's trust? Or will he betray all?
